Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor. As the name implies it is for drawing pictures. You can use Illustrator to create almost any kind of image that you could ever want. This has made it a very popular tool for graphics designers. Rather than drawing the design by hand and then scanning it into the computer they can draw their design right on the computer. There are a number of features included to greatly enhance what can be drawn with Illustrator. This is a big part of what has made it so popular you can create images much faster and with a much better quality than you would otherwise be able to do. This has made it possible for graphic designers to become much more creative than they could otherwise be. The main use of Adobe Illustrator when it comes to designing a webpage is to create logos for your site. It is important that your site be branded so that people know that it is your site. In order to do that you need to have a logo on your site that people are going to remember. If you build a site that your visitors don't remember you are largely wasting your time. There is a reason that all of the big companies put so much effort into branding their sites. It not only makes you look more professional but if you stick in people's minds you will seem more trustworthy. Having a program like Adobe Illustrator makes it much easier for small sites to create the graphics they need to properly brand their site. A lot of people are confused about the difference between Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. In a lot of ways they do similar things. The main difference though is that Photoshop is intended to be used to alter images that you have already loaded onto your computer. Illustrator on the other hand is intended to allow you to create graphics from scratch. They both have their uses and ideally you should have both as part of your design tools. However they are both quite expensive and many people can really only afford one. That raises the question of which is more useful? Unfortunately that is not an easy question to answer. Determining whether you are better off with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop is going to depend largely on what it is you are trying to accomplish. It will also depend largely on what your skills are. It is much easier to alter existing images than it is to create your own from scratch. Creating images from scratch takes a lot more creativity. Therefore most people will probably find Photoshop to be more useful since they don't have the design talent to take advantage of Illustrator. However if you do have the design talent you will probably find Photoshop to be somewhat limiting and you will appreciate the freedom of having a program like Adobe Illustrator.
